Microsoft has optimized Windows 11, resulting in a 20% increase in system responsiveness. The company focused on resource management to prioritize active user tasks, as stated by Navjot Virk, Corporate Vice President of Windows Experiences.
The update introduces improved memory management, allowing the OS to keep up to 2 GB of additional active data in RAM rather than swapping it to storage. For PCs with 8 GB of RAM or less, widgets now load only upon opening, freeing over 200 MB of memory.
The update also includes UI changes, such as the ability to position the taskbar at the top or sides of the screen. Additionally, Windows Hello authentication speed has improved, and Bluetooth pairing with AirPods is now 15 seconds faster.
Microsoft has refined the update process and the widgets section. Future plans include a faster and more capable Windows search feature, though the company has not yet provided a specific release timeline for these improvements.
