Microsoft has officially released the Windows 11 2026 Update, also known as version 26H2, via a small enablement package (eKB). This update integrates all security improvements and features introduced in version 25H2 over the past year.

The update introduces productivity tools such as AI-powered image manipulation, document summarization for OneDrive and SharePoint, and support for additional archive formats. Users can now manage work and school accounts more efficiently through quick actions.

Search functionality has been enhanced with improved preview capabilities, better recognition of typos and app abbreviations, and automatic indexing of frequently used folders. Accessibility features have also been updated, including new screen filters and Braille viewer support.

The Start menu and taskbar now offer expanded customization options, including adjustable views, new sizing, and a compact taskbar mode. Voice access capabilities have been extended for Copilot+ PCs, allowing for more natural language commands.

Microsoft maintains its annual update cycle for Windows 11 26H2. Home and Pro editions will receive support for 24 months, while Enterprise and Education editions are supported for 36 months. The first monthly update is scheduled for October 13.

Currently, the update is available exclusively through Windows Update. Microsoft is expected to release official ISO image files for version 26H2 in the near future, following the initial rollout to eligible PC devices.
