Microsoft has introduced a major update to its Copilot AI assistant within the Microsoft 365 suite. The release features a new Code interface, allowing non-technical users to build simple applications, such as sales dashboards, via text prompts. These applications can function as desktop widgets or cloud-based services.

To support cloud deployment, Microsoft launched Copilot Managed Runtime. This service automates the hosting and maintenance of AI-generated apps. Developers can further refine these tools using a provided SDK and command-line interface, enabling integrations with external services while maintaining version control and monitoring.

The update also introduces an Autopilot mode for creating AI agents that automate recurring tasks or complex workflows without requiring code. Additionally, the Chat interface now supports direct creation and editing of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, with changes visible directly within the Copilot window.

Microsoft enhanced its IQ service to improve data context, allowing Copilot to pull information from Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. Future updates will include a Today feature for task management and a unified interface that eliminates the need to manually switch between Chat and Code modes.
