Microsoft is currently testing a new AI application for Windows 11, internally codenamed Project Pantheon. The test version of the software is titled Context Vault. It is designed to function as a searchable second brain for users, allowing them to store and retrieve specific information without the automatic screen-recording features found in the Recall tool.
The application allows users to save various types of content, including web pages, files, screenshots, copied text, audio, and video. Users can organize these items into collections and use an integrated chat feature to summarize information, organize work tasks, or draft new content based on their saved data.
Context Vault integrates directly into the Windows 11 ecosystem. Users can save content via browser extensions, the file explorer, the sharing menu, screen capture tools, the Click to Do feature, and the clipboard. In the file explorer, the app appears alongside other services like WhatsApp and Outlook.
The software supports the Model Context Protocol. This compatibility enables third-party AI applications, such as Claude and Cursor, to access and utilize the memory collections saved by the user within the Context Vault environment.
