Microsoft has officially released the Windows 11 26H2 update for all devices currently running versions 24H2 and 25H2. The rollout, which began on September 29, is now complete, and the company may initiate forced upgrades for eligible systems in the coming weeks.

The update is delivered via a small 174KB enablement package, allowing for an installation process that takes less than five minutes. Users can verify their status by checking for version 26H2 and build 26300 in the system settings.

While the update introduces no major new consumer features, it includes performance optimizations such as improved memory management and up to 20% faster system responsiveness. These improvements are based on the same underlying platform as the 24H2 and 25H2 versions.

The primary purpose of the 26H2 release is to reset the support lifecycle for Windows 11. Home and Pro editions receive two years of support, while Enterprise and Education editions are granted an additional year, ensuring continued security updates for users.
