Microsoft has released a new firmware update for the Surface Laptop Ultra to address several technical issues reported since the device launch. The October 22 release specifically targets screen flickering, unexpected system restarts, and prolonged reboot times.
The update also includes general performance improvements and additional bug fixes. Microsoft notes that users may need to manually restart their devices after the installation process to ensure all components are properly applied.
The firmware is being rolled out to all Surface Laptop Ultra units, though the distribution is not simultaneous for every device. Users who prefer not to wait can manually download and install the update via the official Microsoft driver and firmware portal.
Microsoft emphasizes that this firmware update is permanent. Once installed, the software cannot be uninstalled or rolled back to a previous version.
