Mercedes-Benz plans to discontinue three vehicle models starting with the 2027 model year as part of a strategy to streamline its product lineup. The company aims to integrate electric powertrains more closely with its traditional internal combustion engine offerings.
The affected vehicles include the standard and AMG versions of the EQE sedan, the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance, and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV. The EQE was originally introduced as a dedicated electric alternative to the E-Class.
The Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance, which features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system, will be removed from the lineup. This model currently delivers 791 horsepower and 1,055 pound-feet of torque.
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV, previously the most expensive electric vehicle from the brand, is also being phased out. Mercedes-Benz has indicated that while these specific models are ending, the company continues to invest in combustion engines.
