NVIDIA and Mercedes-Benz AG announced an expanded strategic partnership on October 16, 2026. The collaboration focuses on developing next-generation driver assistance and automated driving systems, building upon a relationship that began around 2020-2021.

The partnership centers on the MB.OS platform, which enables software-defined vehicle features and over-the-air updates. NVIDIA provides its Alpamayo AI models, simulation tools, and redundant safety architectures to support these systems.

Two specific models anchor the current development: the new CLA and the S-Class. The CLA, released in 2026, features NVIDIA DRIVE AV software for Level 2++ assistance in the US. The S-Class utilizes an L4-ready architecture based on NVIDIA Hyperion and DRIVE AV L4 software.

The companies are exploring potential robotaxi applications in collaboration with Uber. While the S-Class hardware is prepared for Level 4 autonomy, the transition from current readiness to active deployment remains a future milestone.

Mercedes-Benz continues to pursue parallel development efforts with other partners, including Momenta and Wayve, to strengthen its position in safety and AI integration.
