The startup Melius, founded by former Ramp engineers Joowon Kim, Young Kim, and Arnav Ramu, has successfully raised $25 million in new funding. The company announced the investment on Tuesday, October 6, with plans to use the capital to scale its AI-powered platform.
The platform is designed to assist users in generating images, videos, and advertising campaigns. According to the founders, the system utilizes AI agents to handle technical tasks, allowing users to focus on creative direction by providing natural language instructions to the software.
The team initially spent six months developing a performance marketing tool before pivoting to focus on creative asset generation. They determined that the original marketing concept lacked sufficient potential, leading them to pursue the current creative platform model instead.
Separately, recent industry data highlights trends in AI spending. A report from Andreessen Horowitz indicates that the top 1% of AI consumers spent an average of $903 per month in August, marking an 80% increase over the previous 18 months.
Market adoption figures show that 58.3% of U.S. consumers used generative AI for personal tasks in August. However, paid subscriptions remain niche, with only 4.5% of consumers holding active personal subscriptions to major AI services like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude.
