MegaFon has upgraded its telecommunications infrastructure in Makhachkala, providing over 400,000 residents with mobile internet speeds reaching up to 85 Mbps. Technical teams achieved this by enhancing equipment that supports the 2100 MHz frequency band, which increased network capacity and improved signal distribution across residential areas, retail zones, and historical sites.

The network expansion addresses rising demand driven by population growth and a surge in tourism. According to the operator, the number of visitors to Makhachkala in autumn 2026 increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2025. Most tourists arrive from the Leningrad Region, Stavropol Krai, Krasnodar Krai, and Chechnya.

The company reports that mobile internet speeds in the city have increased by 10%. This infrastructure development follows a significant rise in data traffic, with usage of social media and streaming platforms growing 3.5 times compared to 2025. Magomed Nasrullaev, Director of MegaFon in Dagestan, noted that the upgrade supports remote work, education, and access to digital services.
