MTS has launched 5G services in Irkutsk and several surrounding residential areas. The network operates on existing LTE 2100 MHz frequencies, utilizing the principle of technological neutrality to run 4G and 5G simultaneously.
Coverage areas in Irkutsk include locations near the Silver Mall and Novy shopping centers, the Krylaty residential district, and Patriot Park. The network also extends to industrial sites in the Leninsky district.
Suburban coverage includes residential complexes such as Izumrudny and Zhemchuzhny, the Khrustalny and Villet cottage settlements in Markova, and the villages of Novaya Razvodnaya and Novolisikha.
Irkutsk is the third Siberian city to receive 5G access from MTS, following Novosibirsk and Abakan. According to regional director Konstantin Zimin, the company plans to use this infrastructure to support IoT, video analytics, and industrial automation.
