Reports from Japan suggest that Mazda might be considering a production version of the Mazda Spirit Racing 3 concept, which was originally unveiled in 2024. Speculation indicates that a new performance-oriented model could potentially arrive in the first half of 2027.

The proposed vehicle may utilize an upgraded version of the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine currently found in international Mazda3 models. While the current engine produces 250 PS, there is theoretical potential to reach 300 PS, though this remains unconfirmed.

Official confirmation regarding the development of a new Mazdaspeed3 or a similar hot hatch is currently absent. Mazda has not verified the use of an all-wheel-drive system, transmission specifications, or the final power output for any future model.

Mazda has previously transitioned concept vehicles into limited production, such as the Spirit Racing Roadster 12R, which featured a 200 PS engine. However, the company has not responded to inquiries regarding the status of a potential Mazda3 performance variant.
