Limetax has secured €36 million in a pre-seed equity round led by Motive Partners, with participation from Activant, Heliad, and individual investors including Christian Lindner and Alexander Kudlich. The funding also includes a credit facility provided by a consortium of German banks.
Founded in January 2026 by Christoph Gamon, Maximilian Meyer, and Christoph Dansard, the company aims to address capacity shortages in the German tax and accounting sector. The startup integrates its proprietary agentic AI platform into partner firms to automate repetitive tasks like bookkeeping and payroll.
The platform operates on top of DATEV software. While AI agents handle data processing, final outputs remain subject to human review by professional advisers. According to the company, early deployments have reduced monthly processing time for bookkeeping from approximately 20 hours to six hours.
Eight months post-launch, Limetax operates across seven locations through four partner firms. The company employs around 150 people and reports annualised revenue in the double-digit millions. The new capital will support further market consolidation and the expansion of its AI platform.
