LG Electronics showcased a new AI voice assistant for smart homes at the Microsoft Industry Summit in Seoul. The technology is integrated into the ThinQ ON smart home hub and utilizes Microsoft's Voice Live platform to enable natural, human-like conversations.
The assistant features speech-to-speech technology that supports real-time interruptions. Users can ask follow-up questions while the AI is speaking, prompting the system to immediately stop its current response, process the new intent, and switch topics seamlessly.
LG plans to launch the updated ThinQ ON hub within this year. Existing users will receive a software update to enable these new capabilities. Beyond residential use, the company intends to deploy the assistant in B2B environments, including hotels, offices, and retail stores.
