Apple has unveiled details regarding its upcoming HomeView smart home hub. The device features a Home Camera interface capable of displaying up to nine live video feeds simultaneously, allowing users to monitor multiple indoor and outdoor areas without manual switching.
While the new Home series accessories generally support the Matter standard, Apple has opted not to include it for security cameras at this time. The company cited concerns regarding the reliability and security of current Matter camera specifications.
The hub functions as a digital photo frame, integrating with iCloud Shared Albums. Users can automatically update displayed photos from their iPhones. Additionally, the device includes interactive interfaces like Flow, which reacts to movement, and Fade, which adjusts clock brightness based on time.
For kitchen use, the device supports Safari and Apple News for recipe viewing. Users can follow step-by-step cooking instructions, utilize Siri for voice-controlled navigation, and pin recipes for later access.
Installation options include a wall-mounted configuration using the Schneider Home Power Mount AC Wired accessory, priced at $79.95. This mount connects to standard wall boxes via USB-C. Apple recommends professional installation by a licensed electrician to ensure proper handling of existing electrical circuits.
