Leapmotor plans to introduce plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to international markets by the first half of 2027. The company is increasing its investment in the development of these models to diversify its current lineup, which consists of battery electric and extended-range electric vehicles.
The manufacturer aims to reach overseas sales of 350 000 to 400 000 vehicles in 2027, targeting the upper end of this range. For 2026, the company updated its overseas sales forecast to approximately 200 000 units, exceeding the previous target of 100 000 to 150 000 vehicles.
During the first eight months of the year, Leapmotor exported 132 118 vehicles, marking a 327.79 percent year-on-year increase. Global deliveries for the same period reached 560 883 units, which accounts for about 56.1 percent of the company's annual target of 1 000 000 vehicles.
The company manages its international operations through Leapmotor International, a joint venture with Stellantis NV. This partnership utilizes existing dealership and after-sales networks to support expansion. Additionally, Leapmotor is pursuing localized production, including assembly operations in Indonesia.
