Leapmotor unveiled its CTC 3.0 battery and MM-i hybrid drive system during the 2026 technical conference held on September 16. This move marks the company's official entry into the plug-in hybrid vehicle market, completing its powertrain lineup that already includes pure electric and range-extender options.
The new MM-i hybrid drive weighs 106kg, which is 40% lighter than comparable systems. It features a peak power output of 206kW, representing a 28% increase over industry peers. The system achieves a 94.4% power generation efficiency and reduces high-speed fuel consumption by 20% through dual-motor coordination.
The CTC 3.0 battery integrates high and low voltage systems into a single unit, eliminating the need for a separate external low-voltage battery. This design increases low-voltage battery capacity by 7 times and provides a maintenance-free lifespan. The system uses an 11-in-1 integrated BMS for management.
Leapmotor has committed to opening its patents related to the high-low voltage integrated CTC battery technology to the entire industry. Additionally, the company introduced the LEAP 5.0 architecture, which features a central domain controller and reduces vehicle wiring length to less than 500 meters.
