Graeme Gambold, chief ride and handling engineer at Kia Australia, stated that the automotive industry is neglecting driving enthusiasts. He expressed dissatisfaction with the current trend of prioritizing complex safety systems and screens over driving dynamics.
Modern safety regulations now mandate features like intelligent speed assistance, lane-keeping systems, and automatic emergency braking, which limits the ability of manufacturers to simplify vehicle designs.
Kia is developing a production version of the Vision Meta Turismo concept, an electric sports sedan intended as an indirect successor to the Stinger. Design chief Karim Habib noted that high development costs are currently slowing the project.
A fastback derivative of the model is reportedly 90 percent ready for production. However, Kia has not set a launch date, and the vehicles are not expected to arrive within the next two years.
