Jindal Stainless has integrated 10 heavy-duty electric trucks into its logistics fleet. These vehicles are currently operating on routes between the company's Jajpur plant in Odisha and destinations in West Bengal, specifically Kharagpur and Kolkata. The total one-way distance for these routes exceeds 350 kilometres.

The company acquired the 55-tonne 5548e model trucks from Blue Energy Motors. While specific configurations for the deployed units were not disclosed, the manufacturer offers battery options ranging from 282 to 423 kWh. The base model features a 480 hp motor and a swappable LFP battery system that allows for a five-minute exchange or a 45-minute fast charge from 20 to 80 percent.

This initiative is part of a broader decarbonization strategy that includes 80 LNG trucks and 60 CNG buses. By utilizing this mixed fleet of alternative-fuel vehicles, Jindal Stainless aims to reduce monthly CO2 emissions by approximately 26 percent, or 71 tonnes. These projections are based on a monthly transport volume of 8,000 to 9,000 tonnes and a total fleet travel distance of 240,000 km.
