The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has allocated AUD 4 million to the REVS2 project. This initiative will deploy vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology across a fleet of 130 electric vehicles to test its commercial viability.

The project is led by charging infrastructure company JET Charge. The firm will upgrade its management system to coordinate bidirectional charging and discharging based on electricity tariffs, vehicle availability, and grid demands.

Energy company ActewAGL will develop a virtual power plant tariff structure for the trial. Additionally, the Australian National University will analyze the commercial benefits and share findings with the broader fleet sector.

Scheduled to run until June 2029, the project aims to determine if fleet operators can reduce operating costs by providing grid services. This follows a previous 2020 REVS trial that confirmed the technical feasibility of V2G.
