Insight Partners, managing over $90 billion in assets, is prioritizing portfolio diversification over concentrated bets on foundation model companies. Managing Director Deven Parekh emphasizes a strategy that treats AI as an operating system upgrade for the software industry rather than a single asset class.
The firm’s approach involves three pillars: internal AI deployment, assisting its portfolio of over 900 companies with AI integration, and direct investments in AI-native firms. Insight specifically favors vertical AI applications over horizontal models, citing its investment in Exiger as a primary example.
Despite missing out on the legal AI startup Legora, which reached a valuation of $5.55 billion following a $550 million Series D round in March 2026, the firm maintains a disciplined stance. Insight continues to hold co-investment stakes in both OpenAI and Anthropic.
In January 2025, Insight Partners closed its Fund XIII at $12.5 billion. The firm utilizes a venture buyout strategy, combining venture-stage risk with buyout-style stability, and has successfully guided more than 55 portfolio companies through the IPO process.
