IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover features 1,589 exhibitors from 46 countries, marking the most international edition of the event to date. Industry leaders emphasized that climate-neutral freight technologies are now ready for commercial deployment.
Major manufacturers are showcasing production-ready electric trucks. Volvo Trucks introduced its FH, FH Aero, FM, and FMX models, which won the International Truck of the Year 2027 award. MAN displayed its eTGL and eTGX series, with the latter offering a range of up to 720 kilometers.
Daimler Truck reported that customers have driven the eActros 600 over 160 million kilometers since late 2024. The vehicle provides a range of up to 560 kilometers at a 40-ton gross weight. Renault Trucks presented the E-Tech T 780, designed for long-haul operations with a 660-kilometer range.
Hydrogen technology remains a key focus, with Daimler, Volvo, and Toyota developing fuel-cell and hydrogen-combustion systems. Daimler plans to deploy 100 next-generation fuel-cell trucks by the end of 2026, targeting a range exceeding 1,000 kilometers using liquid hydrogen.
Infrastructure development is progressing alongside vehicle production. Projects in Germany involve over 70 high-capacity hydrogen stations capable of servicing 100 trucks daily. Meanwhile, suppliers like Bosch and ZF are introducing advanced charging and hybrid transmission solutions to support fleet electrification.
