Hyundai is reportedly developing a high-performance N variant of its best-selling Tucson crossover. According to reports, the vehicle will feature a hybrid powertrain designed to increase power output while maintaining fuel efficiency.
While the exact specifications remain unconfirmed, industry estimates suggest the hybrid system could deliver up to 350 horsepower. For comparison, the current hybrid Tucson utilizes a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing 242 horsepower.
Joon Park, vice president of Hyundai’s N Management Group, stated that the company intends to continue developing internal combustion engine vehicles alongside its electric lineup. The performance-focused N models will prioritize agility and power.
The upcoming Tucson N is expected to feature upgrades such as an adaptive suspension and enhanced braking systems. The vehicle is positioned to compete with models like the 320-horsepower Toyota RAV4 GR Sport and future performance offerings from Dodge.
