German engineering firm HWA has released a teaser for a new restomod project based on the iconic Mercedes-AMG Hammer. The teaser image confirms that the build will utilize the W124 chassis, which served as the foundation for the original performance sedan developed by AMG in the 1980s.

HWA was established in 1998 by Hans Werner Aufrecht, who was a development engineer at Daimler-Benz and a co-founder of AMG. The company specializes in building high-performance vehicles based on Mercedes-Benz models, including its recent HWA Evo project.

The original AMG Hammer, introduced in 1986, featured a 5.5-liter V8 engine that produced 355 horsepower and 388 pound-feet of torque. These specifications allowed the sedan to reach speeds of up to 186 miles per hour, significantly elevating the profile of the AMG brand at the time.
