BYD is expanding its Yangwang luxury brand with a new flagship electric sedan designed to compete with ultra-luxury models like the Rolls-Royce Phantom. The vehicle features rear-hinged coach doors and is approximately 5,500 mm in length. It is expected to be the first model from the company to utilize solid-state battery technology.

The company confirmed that the global debut of the new sedan will occur in the UAE. While an official launch date remains unannounced, the vehicle is expected to be unveiled this month. Industry reports suggest a starting price in the range of ¥2 million, which is approximately $300,000.

The sedan was recently spotted at a BYD Flash Charging station, indicating support for megawatt-level charging capabilities. This new model will sit above the current Yangwang U7, which starts at ¥658,000. The brand currently offers the U8 plug-in hybrid SUV and the U9 electric supercar.
