Huawei has released version 1.2.0 of its Cangjie programming language. This update is classified as an STS version with a maintenance cycle of six months. Meanwhile, the previous STS 1.1.x version is scheduled to reach its end-of-life on October 30, 2026.

The 1.2.0 release focuses on cross-platform capabilities, compiler improvements, and toolchain enhancements. Key additions include support for Android 23 (API 23) aarch64 and Link Time Optimization (LTO) for iOS. The update also improves cross-language interoperability with Objective-C and Java.

Compiler stability and performance have been addressed through several fixes, including resolving issues with broken declaration overloading, constant function ICEs, and string interpolation positioning. The toolchain's Language Server Protocol (LSP) now supports cross-platform definition navigation, interface extraction, and renaming.

Cangjie was first introduced by Huawei in June 2024 and was officially open-sourced on July 30, 2025. The language is designed for intelligent, all-scenario application development, particularly for the HarmonyOS ecosystem, where it complements ArkTS and C/C++.
