Estonian company Golbriak Space has secured €4 million in seed funding to scale the production of its laser communication systems. The investment was directed into the company's Italian holding entity, Iribits S.r.l., to support the industrialization of its Estonian subsidiary, Golbriak Space OÜ.

The funding round was co-led by Join Capital and PhotonVentures, with additional participation from Takeoff, an acceleration program managed by Plug and Play. The capital will be used to expand manufacturing capacity as the company prepares for large-scale deployments.

Golbriak Space develops optical terminals for space and airborne applications, specifically its ERMESAI+ and ARES product lines. These systems utilize a software-defined architecture designed to simplify integration and reduce reliance on the pointing capabilities of host platforms like satellites or drones.

The company is currently in advanced commercial negotiations for programs that involve several thousand terminals. These upcoming customer-funded deployments are scheduled to begin in 2027, marking a shift toward large-scale implementation for next-generation satellite networks.
