Estonian startup Golbriak Space has secured €4 million in a seed funding round co-led by Join Capital and PhotonVentures. The accelerator Takeoff, managed by Plug and Play within the CDP Venture Capital network, also participated in the investment. The capital will support the industrialization and mass production of the company's laser communication terminals.

Founded by Nicola Garzaniti and Simone Briatore, the company develops optical link hardware for satellites and aircraft. Their product lineup includes the ERMESAI+ series for space applications and the ARES system for aerial platforms. These terminals utilize narrow light beams to transmit data, offering an alternative to traditional radio frequencies.

The startup currently offers data rates starting at 2.5 Gbps, with plans to introduce a 10 Gbps system by 2027. Their technology supports various standards, including those of the US Space Development Agency. The company has previously raised $130,000 and participated in the ESA BIC Estonia incubator program.

The global market for optical satellite communication is projected to grow from $0.62 billion in 2025 to $1.56 billion by 2030. Golbriak Space aims to scale production to meet demand for constellation-level deployments, moving beyond initial testing and small-scale operations to fulfill orders involving thousands of units.
