Apple has increased the starting prices for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max to $1,199 and $1,299, marking a $100 rise compared to previous models. The company also raised prices on older iPhone models by $100, reflecting a broader industry trend of price adjustments.
Major manufacturers have followed similar pricing strategies. The Google Pixel 11 now starts at $899, up from $799 for the Pixel 10. Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at $2,099, which is $100 more than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Price increases extend to other brands as well. The Sony Xperia 10 VIII costs £150 more than the previous version, and the new Moto Razr models are priced $100 higher. Market data indicates that the segment for smartphones priced under $100 may soon disappear.
These hikes are attributed to component shortages caused by the expansion of AI data centers. Memory costs have been particularly affected, with Nothing CEO Carl Pei noting that RAM prices for the Nothing Phone 4A doubled. Additionally, Qualcomm recently increased prices for its processors.
