San Francisco-based startup Fragment has exited stealth mode, announcing a $56 million Series A funding round. The investment was led by 8VC, with participation from General Catalyst and A*.
The company, founded by Pranav Mulgund and Naveen Kashyap, develops AI agents designed to manage procurement exceptions. Its Autonomous Context Engine (ACE) integrates with existing enterprise systems to resolve issues like invoice discrepancies without requiring data migration.
Fragment reports that its clients have seen a reduction in exceptions by approximately 50% within the first few weeks, with over 90% of issues resolved without human intervention. The company claims these improvements impact costs by $5 million to $10 million.
Unlike competitors, Fragment focuses on direct procurement and utilizes a pricing model based on agent workload rather than user seats. The new capital will be used to enhance the ACE platform and expand into source-to-pay workflows.
The AI procurement market is projected to grow from $4.99 billion in 2026 to $19.74 billion by 2031, according to Mordor Intelligence. Fragment joins other players in the space, including Zip, Levelpath, Pactum, Didero, and Freehand.
