Ford plans to update the powertrain lineup for the 2027 Ranger pickup. The company will replace the existing 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with a more powerful 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 unit for the XLT and Lariat trim levels.
The 3.0-liter engine currently powers the Ranger Raptor, delivering 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Ford has not confirmed the specific power output for the new XLT and Lariat configurations, though adjustments are expected to differentiate them from the flagship Raptor model.
The 2027 model year update also introduces several aesthetic and functional changes. Ford is adding 17-, 18-, and 20-inch wheel options and a new Neptune Blue exterior color, while removing Carbonized Gray and Velocity Blue. The traditional blue Ford oval badge replaces the black version.
Interior and technology upgrades include a standard 12-inch infotainment display and dual-zone climate control for the XL trim. Safety features like intersection assist and lane keeping are now standard on the XL, while the Co-Pilot360 technology becomes standard equipment for the XLT model.
