Fiat plans to launch a new electric city car named the Koala in 2027. The name was officially confirmed by Fiat CEO Arnauld Belloni during the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The vehicle is currently under development as part of the company's strategy to expand its small car lineup, which already includes the Pandina, Grande Panda, and Grizzly models.
The Koala will be built on the Stellantis E-Car platform. This architecture is designed for electric vehicles shorter than 4.2 meters, aligning with a new European Union vehicle category intended to promote compact electric mobility. The design of the upcoming model may reflect a boxy, angular aesthetic previously showcased in a Stellantis industrial presentation.
Production of the Fiat Koala is scheduled to take place at the Stellantis plant in Pomigliano d'Arco, Italy. The facility will also manufacture the Citroën 2CV, which shares the same platform. Reports suggest that an Opel-branded variant of the vehicle could also be added to the production line at the same location.
