Ford is introducing the Fathom electric pickup truck, which will be available in 2027 with a starting MSRP of $28,350. The vehicle features a built-in bidirectional charging system that eliminates the need for an external wall-mounted inverter to power a home.
The system is designed to supply over 10 kW of AC power. Ford aims to reduce the costs of bidirectional power access for consumers. The company also expects its next-generation Ford Home Power Station charger to cost about half as much as the previous version.
Additionally, Ford is lowering the price of its Ford Home Backup Power Panel. The company projects the final cost of this component will be at least 60% lower than the first-generation backup power system.
Separately, Audi announced plans to build a manufacturing facility in Georgia, USA, with an investment of $4 billion. The project aims to establish local production to improve the company's competitiveness in the American market.
