Ford has announced that its upcoming midsize electric pickup, the Fathom, will enter the market with a starting price of $28 350. Even with the mandatory $1 595 delivery fee, the entry-level model remains priced below $30 000. Higher trim levels of the vehicle are expected to be priced in the high $30 000 range.
The Fathom is the first vehicle built on Ford’s new Universal Electric Vehicle platform. The truck features a zonal electrical architecture and a 48-volt system designed to reduce production costs. It will also support bidirectional charging, allowing owners to power their homes during outages or to manage energy expenses.
The vehicle will include integrated Apple Maps, standard Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. All models will be equipped with BlueCruise capability for hands-free driving. Ford claims the interior offers more space than a Toyota RAV4, supplemented by a front trunk and a standard truck bed.
Ford plans to open preorders for the Fathom in early 2027, with an official market launch scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027. The company expects the total cost of ownership over five years to be lower than that of a three-year-old used Tesla Model Y.
