The Toyota FJ Cruiser saw its market value more than double between 2019 and 2021. The model was originally based on the J120 Land Cruiser Prado and Lexus GX 470 chassis, featuring a 4.0-liter V6 engine that produced 239 horsepower in 2007 and 260 horsepower by 2014. Toyota discontinued the FJ Cruiser in the US in 2014, though it remained available in other markets until 2022.

In October 2025, Toyota debuted the new Land Cruiser FJ at the Japan Mobility Show. The vehicle transitioned from an electric powertrain to a combustion engine during development. It is built on the IMV body-on-frame chassis, shared with the Hilux pickup, and is equipped with a 2.7-liter inline-4 engine producing 161 horsepower paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The new Land Cruiser FJ offers two front-end designs, featuring either circular or rectangular headlights. The vehicle is manufactured in Thailand and is targeted at markets in Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. Toyota has confirmed that the FJ designation for this model now stands for Freedom and Joy, while the current market benchmark for used original FJ Cruisers is approximately $26 500.
