Ford has revealed a previously unknown Mustang pickup concept, developed at the company's Experimental Vehicles Building in Dearborn, Michigan. The vehicle, based on the S550 generation produced between 2015 and 2023, was created by the internal metal shop team as a training project for apprentices.

The conversion features a functional truck bed with a tailgate, a custom bulkhead with an integrated spoiler, and a vertical rear windshield. The exterior design incorporates elements from a pre-facelift Shelby GT350, including the bumper intakes, vented hood, and quad tailpipes. The vehicle is finished in Twister Orange Metallic.

Unlike many prototypes that are destroyed, this one-off model has been added to Ford's Heritage Fleet for preservation. Matt Korczyk, manager of the fleet, noted that the project highlights the skills of the apprentices and their instructors. The vehicle was kept internal until photos were shared on social media.

Regarding future product plans, Ford CEO Jim Farley has hinted at the potential for a successor to the Falcon Ute. Reports suggest the company is also developing a four-door hybrid V8 Mustang derivative, internally referred to as the Mach 4. This potential model could launch before the end of the decade with a starting price below $40,000.
