Flux Power has introduced an integrated gas detection system for its airport ground support equipment batteries. The sensor monitors internal conditions and connects to the battery management system, which can shut down power and alert vehicles if a thermal event is detected. Events are also reported to the SkyEMS platform for units equipped with SkyVOX telematics.
The gas detection technology was developed in collaboration with a major airline and demonstrated at the company's headquarters in Vista, California. Initial shipments are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027, with a retrofit program planned for existing batteries. The system is designed to exceed current industry safety standards.
The company also expanded its S24 battery line with two new configurations. The Compact-Compartment version is designed for forklifts with limited space, while the Heavy Duty S24 for walkie stacker trucks is currently undergoing qualification with an OEM partner.
Additionally, Flux Power unveiled the SkyVOX telematics device, which provides battery location tracking and charging alerts. The device features external cellular and GPS antennas to ensure connectivity when installed inside steel truck compartments. Shipments of the new telematics units are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
