ABB E-mobility and French operator Oreve are scaling up their partnership to build public charging infrastructure for electric trucks in France. The companies plan to add twelve new charging parks by the end of 2028, featuring approximately 100 charging points with a combined capacity of 18 MW.
The project utilizes ABB A400 fast chargers, which distribute up to 400 kW across two points. Starting in 2027, the modular M-Series will be introduced, allowing sites to scale capacity up to 1.2 MW. These units support both CCS and the Megawatt Charging System, with the first MCS-capable site scheduled for 2027.
ABB will provide charging hardware, cloud-based management, and remote monitoring. The sites are designed for modular expansion to meet growing demand. Currently, the partners operate six sites, including locations in Bourg-de-Péage, Vénissieux, and Pardies, which serve both heavy-duty vehicles and passenger cars.
The expansion aligns with France’s national goal to install 8,000 truck charging points across 560 service areas by 2035. Oreve, a subsidiary of the Ortec Group, aims to establish 150 public charging sites across France by 2030, complementing the broader shift toward electrified road freight transport.
