German launch integrator Exolaunch has secured its first agreement for a SpaceX Starfall reentry mission. The launch is scheduled for no earlier than 2029 aboard the Starship vehicle. This marks the company's debut in managing Earth-return payloads and its first commitment to the Starship platform.

Exolaunch will act as the payload integrator, handling technical, logistical, and regulatory tasks for customers in sectors such as biotech, pharmaceuticals, and in-space manufacturing. The company is tasked with filling the mission's 1 000 kg payload capacity and is exploring the development or acquisition of new hardware to support these operations.

The company expects to leverage its existing relationships from the SpaceX Transporter program to attract clients. Additionally, Exolaunch is set to be acquired by the investment firm EQT in the fourth quarter of 2026. This partnership is expected to provide access to EQT's portfolio of biotech companies, further supporting the new reentry service.

The broader space sector is seeing increased activity, with demand rising from pharmaceutical companies interested in microgravity research. Meanwhile, a report from Deloitte estimates the cumulative value of the lunar economy through 2050 at $343 billion in a conservative scenario, potentially reaching $566 billion under accelerated growth.
