Swiss robotics startup Enact Intelligence has officially exited stealth mode, securing $30 million in a pre-seed funding round. The company is focused on developing foundational technology for general-purpose robots designed for industrial and real-world applications.
Unlike competitors that rely primarily on visual data from cameras, Enact is building systems that utilize force and touch sensing through actuators. This approach allows robots to perceive interactions in real time, aiming to improve reliability and performance across various hardware form factors.
The funding round attracted significant backing from prominent figures in the French AI sector, including Mistral CEO Arthur Mensch and former Meta chief AI scientist Yann LeCun. Other angel investors include Hugging Face co-founder Thomas Wolf.
Institutional investors participating in the round include Redalpine, Notion Capital, and Firstminute Capital. The startup intends to utilize the capital to scale its workforce and accelerate research and development efforts related to both hardware and software stacks.
CEO and co-founder Manuel Yves Gallier, formerly of Physical Intelligence, stated that the company is rethinking the entire robotics stack. This includes developing model architectures for multi-frequency intelligence and optimizing data pipelines that integrate directly with sensors and actuators.
