New York-based startup Clark has secured $11 million in a seed funding round led by Touring Capital. This investment brings the company's total funding to $16 million. Returning investors include Marathon Management Partners, Rerail, and Sofeon Ventures. The capital will support hiring in engineering, product, and sales, as well as the expansion of audit services.

The company has introduced Clerks, autonomous AI employees designed to perform audit tasks for CPA firms. The system operates on Material Intelligence, an AI platform that integrates document processing and memory systems. These agents can review financial documents, conduct tests, prepare workpapers, and communicate directly with clients to request missing information.

Currently, over 35 CPA firms utilize Clark’s technology, including CliftonLarsonAllen, Aprio, Kreischer Miller, and Sensiba. While the AI handles routine audit procedures, licensed CPAs retain responsibility for final professional judgments and signing audit opinions. The company provides customers with an accuracy and peer-review guarantee.

Clark aims to transition auditing from periodic annual reviews to a model of continuous financial verification. By checking records as new data becomes available, the startup intends to identify suspicious activity and potential fraud in real time. The company was founded by CEO Enes Witwit and was previously known as uiAgent.
