ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent have placed orders for over 3 million Nvidia RTX Pro 5500 graphics cards. The total value of these orders exceeds $35 billion, with each unit priced at approximately $11,400.
Nvidia reportedly plans to produce only 3 million units of this model globally over the next year. Due to the high demand from China, the company has warned other partners that they may receive only 5–10% of their requested volumes.
The RTX Pro 5500 features Blackwell architecture with 21,760 CUDA cores and 84 GB of ECC GDDR7 memory. Chinese firms intend to utilize these cards primarily for AI inference tasks, as they comply with current US export controls.
Commercial shipments of the RTX Pro 5500 are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027. Production capacity may further decrease in 2027 as Nvidia shifts TSMC manufacturing resources toward its upcoming Rubin series AI accelerators.
