The first comprehensive risk insurance plan for artificial intelligence applications in China was unveiled at the 2026 Financial Street Forum. This initiative aims to address the lack of specialized insurance products in the domestic AI market by covering both third-party liabilities and losses incurred by AI service providers.

The insurance coverage applies to damages caused by negligence or errors in AI-generated content, including text, images, audio, and video. It specifically addresses scenarios where AI outputs lead to copyright infringement, misleading information, or direct physical and financial harm to third parties.

Insurance companies will determine premiums based on a risk assessment of the model's performance, application scenarios, and data processing volume. Coverage for service providers includes costs related to model performance deviations, such as system repairs, refunds, and expert appraisals, subject to contractual terms.

The program targets AI model developers, application creators, smart hardware manufacturers, and solution providers. The scope of these insurance products is currently expanding to cover various sectors, including intelligent office agents, large language models, and humanoid robotics.
