The GEEKCON 2026 security event concluded in Shanghai on October 24. Organizer 'Daniuwa' noted that the event's future was uncertain due to the rapid development of AI, which threatens to replace human hackers. Despite these concerns, the organizers held the event to focus on identifying the next generation of security talent.

The competition featured several technical demonstrations, including 'Lost Captcha,' 'From Prompt to Torque,' and 'Smart Car Hacking.' Participants also engaged in an AI hacker extreme challenge and a debate. The event, founded by DARKNAVY, originated in 2014 as GeekPwn and was rebranded as GEEKCON in 2023.

During the drone hijacking demonstration, an anonymous participant exploited an unknown vulnerability to remotely take control of a mainstream drone. The attacker bypassed the electronic fence set by judges to initiate flight, highlighting how software flaws can compromise physical safety mechanisms in smart devices.

In the banking security challenge, a participant used an unknown flaw in a banking application to intercept a transfer. By triggering an attack via a single link, the hacker redirected funds to their own account and altered the transaction amount. This exercise underscored the growing risks to financial security in the AI era.

Since its inception, GEEKCON has attracted over 30,000 security researchers and established technical partnerships with various technology companies. The platform is currently working on developing a quantitative rating system for the security of smart devices to address increasingly complex threats.
