BYD is preparing to launch the Great Seagull, a larger and more powerful version of its popular electric hatchback. The current Seagull, known as the Dolphin Surf or Mini in international markets, starts at approximately $10,000 in China. The new model is scheduled to go on sale by the end of 2026.

According to filings with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Great Seagull measures 4,205 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase. The vehicle features a 95 kW electric motor, a significant upgrade from the 55 kW motor found in the current version.

The new model is expected to incorporate the Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging technology, which aims to charge the battery from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes. Additionally, the inclusion of a roof-mounted LiDAR suggests the availability of the God’s Eye B advanced driver assistance system.

Design updates include a revamped interior with a larger infotainment screen, a redesigned center console, and a two-spoke steering wheel. While official international pricing is pending, the vehicle is expected to retail for under €30,000 in Europe to compete with models like the Volkswagen ID. 3 Neo and Renault Megane.
