BYD has officially started nationwide deliveries of its new Sealion 08 SUV. The company recently showcased a fleet of these vehicles leaving its manufacturing plant in Jinan, marking the beginning of the distribution process to customers throughout China.
The model launch saw significant demand, with the company reporting over 12 000 firm orders within the first 24 hours. BYD also addressed recent industry rumors regarding production delays linked to its second-generation Blade Battery, labeling these claims as unfounded.
The Sealion 08 is offered in eight different variants with prices ranging from ¥229 900 to ¥279 900. Buyers can select between battery-electric and plug-in hybrid configurations, with the latter featuring BYD’s fifth-generation DM technology.
The hybrid powertrain combines a 1,5-litre turbocharged engine producing 115 kW with electric motors. The vehicle is available in five- or six-seat layouts, with the six-seat version offering second-row captain’s chairs and an optional roof-mounted screen.
Standard equipment includes the God’s Eye B intelligent driving system, which supports urban navigation and automated parking. The SUV also features the DiSus-A body-control system, dual-chamber air suspension, and rear-wheel steering.
