The Russian aerospace company Bureau 1440, a subsidiary of ICS Holding, has partnered with UK Elga to test a low-Earth orbit satellite communication service. The agreement was finalized during the Digital Solutions forum, marking the first remote document signing in Russia conducted via a next-generation satellite link.

The signing took place between participants located 5,000 kilometers apart, with one party stationed at the Elga coal deposit in Yakutia. The connection was established using a proprietary subscriber terminal developed by Bureau 1440, which facilitated the electronic document management system during the live broadcast.

Under the agreement, the companies will test the satellite service at the Port Elga coal terminal in the Khabarovsk Territory and the Elga coal deposit in Yakutia. The partners intend to evaluate the use of high-speed satellite broadband for current and future operational tasks within the mining and logistics sectors.

Future applications for the satellite infrastructure include video analytics, digital twin technology, and autonomous haul truck operations. These tools aim to improve safety, operational efficiency, and working conditions for employees in remote areas where traditional terrestrial communication is either unavailable or economically unfeasible.
