Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac is exploring the possibility of developing a new derivative of the Tourbillon hypercar. The potential model would feature a naturally aspirated V16 engine paired with a manual transmission, moving away from the hybrid powertrain used in the current version.

The proposed configuration would involve removing the three electric motors, the dual-clutch transmission, and the 25-kWh battery pack. This change is intended to reduce the vehicle's overall weight and provide a more engaging driving experience for the owner.

The current Tourbillon engine is an 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 unit. It delivers 986 horsepower and 900 Newton-meters of torque, with a redline reaching 9,000 rpm. Engineering a manual gearbox capable of handling this output remains a primary technical challenge.

While Rimac has expressed enthusiasm for the concept, Bugatti has not officially confirmed plans for production. The company is currently operating independently following its separation from the Volkswagen Group, allowing for more flexibility in vehicle development.
