BMW is expanding its Neue Klasse electric vehicle lineup with the upcoming i3 Touring. The automaker officially confirmed the model earlier this year, and prototypes have been spotted undergoing development testing. A full reveal of the electric wagon is scheduled for 2027.

The i3 Touring will feature a design based on the i3 sedan, including a 17.9-inch infotainment display and the BMW Panoramic iDrive cockpit. The wagon is expected to provide increased cargo capacity and greater rear headroom compared to the sedan version. It will ride on 20-inch alloy wheels and include M Sport trim bumpers.

The powertrain options will likely mirror the i3 sedan. The i3 40 xDrive variant delivers 369 hp with an 82.8 kWh battery, while the i3 50 xDrive offers 463 hp and a 108.7 kWh battery. While the sedan achieves WLTP ranges of 441 miles and 567 miles respectively, the Touring model may see slight variations due to aerodynamics and weight.

Alongside the electric i3 Touring, BMW is developing a combustion-powered 3-Series Touring based on the CLAR architecture. This model will include an M350 xDrive variant featuring a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine with 437 hp. Both the i3 Touring and the new 3-Series Touring are expected to launch in Europe in 2027.
