BYD has launched the updated Seagull in China, featuring a larger body and improved technical specifications. The vehicle length has increased by 425 mm to 4205 mm, while the wheelbase is now 2650 mm. The car is equipped with a 95 kW motor and has transitioned to rear-wheel drive with an independent multilink suspension.
The new model maintains battery capacities of 30.1 kWh and 39.2 kWh, with CLTC ranges extended to 320 km and 420 km respectively. A key addition is Flash Charging technology, which allows the battery to charge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes and to 97% in 9 minutes. BYD has deployed 12,165 such stations this year and plans to reach 20,000 by year-end.
Safety features include a LiDAR-equipped intelligent driving system on select trims. The interior offers increased storage, including a 94l frunk and 31 storage spaces throughout the cabin. The rear seat now accommodates three passengers, and front seats feature heating, ventilation, and driver-side massage functions.
Pricing for the new Seagull starts at 65,900 RMB, with the top trim priced at 99,900 RMB. A 3000 RMB discount is available at launch. Base models include a 7-kW home charging station, while Flash Charging is standard on models starting from 75,900 RMB. The company currently faces regulatory constraints in China regarding pricing and inventory management.
